GigaPan

i created a new account at GigaPan, it’s like Panoramio with geotagged photos but spezialised on arranged photographs in superhigh pixel-resolution. here is my first uploaded picture

this site shows that there should be never an end to new cameras with the often criticised more and more megapixels. for example look at this photo - it has 3,65 gigapixels, these are 365 megapixels. so the detailing is incredible high, you can zoom-in endlessy without losing quality. but at the moment you have to make a lot of photos to arrange a gigpixel-image like this. my uploaded image has 55 megapixel, i arranged it with a 10 megapixel camera and needed for the whole pic around 10 photos. that means that the 365 megapixel-image needed a few photos more… but this will change with every new camera model in the future.

google earth also shows the gigapans in the programm, but before they check the quality which needs always some weeks or months.
